Escaping Victimhood

WHAT IS AN 'ESCAPING VICTIMHOOD' WORKSHOP?

The experience of crime can effect work, health and relationships.  The workshops offer a unique 3-4 day Residential Programme, for up to 12 participants, that helps people traumatised by the past to reclaim their future.  At a workshop participants can:-

*  Learn more about the physical and emotional impact of 'Trauma'...

*  Attend sessions on personal change to help put the 'Traumatic Event' in the context of

their whole lives - past and future...

*  Experience relaxing therapies, such as massage and Tai Chi...

*  Use painting, photography or other creative activities to find new forms of expression...

*  Spend time with people with a similar experience...

*  Benefit from individual sessions of Trauma Therapy, Counselling and Healing...

The Escaping Victimhood venues provide comfortable accommodation, good food, lovely gardens and a relaxing atmosphere.  The workshop sessions are run by skilled and supportive facilitators.  A follow-up day takes place about 6 weeks later.

WHO ARE THE WORKSHOPS FOR?

Adults affected by the experience of crime.  It is most helpful to attend a workshop some months after the 'traumatic event'...for example, after any Court Proceedings/Trial has taken place.  However, there is no time limit - the 'workshops' can help even if the 'crime/traumatic event' took place many years ago.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

There is a fee for those able to pay, to contribute towards running costs.  However...'Escaping Victimhood' is committed to helping everyone in need, whether or not they can afford it!'  An offer of a reduced fee to those who can make some contribution, or no fee to those who can't.

WHERE DO THE WORKSHOPS TAKE PLACE?

The Aim is to run Workshops throughout the year across the United Kingdom.  In 2009...Escaping Victimhood will run two workshops in London specifically for people bereaved by Knife or Gun Crime in the Capital.  The first workshop will take place in Bloomsbury from 4th to 7th May, 2009 with a follow-up date on the 18th June.  The second workshop is likely to be in September, 2009.

Escaping Victimhood hope to run at least one more workshop during 2009.
